Governor Brown signs bill giving tenants more time to stave off eviction
California tenants will have more days to pay rent or respond to eviction lawsuits, according to a bill Gov. Jerry Brown signed into law on Wednesday. State law maintains that tenants have three days to comply with lease terms or pay rent, and five days to respond to eviction proceedings.
