Freelance marketplace Upwork Inc. on Thursday joined what is turning into a flood of Bay Area companies filing plans to go public this year. The Mountain View company that was formed by the 2014 merger of Elance and Odesk said it plans to raise $100 million in its IPO. It joins eight others from the region with outstanding public IPO filings, including electric car company Nio Inc., which is expected to debut on Wall Street next Wednesday.
