Private equity investors and others are reportedly weighing a possible bid for Yahoo Inc. in the wake of lukewarm reaction to the settlement of a dispute over its Chinese investments. All Things Digital reported on Sunday that unnamed “sources close to the situation” said investors are looking at the possibility of attempting a takeover or privatization of Yahoo (NASDAQ:YHOO). The $4.5 billion sale of Nortel Networks Corp. patents to a group Google Inc. rivals is reportedly drawing scrutiny from U.S. antitrust regulators. As the debate goes on about raising the federal debt limit, the amount of cash in the U.S. Treasury gets drawn down, with the latest amount on Friday hitting $54 billion. So the bloggers who pointed out that Apple Inc. had more money (about $76 billion) than the government on Wednesday (about $74 billion) are now drawing the comparison to the wealth of some of the richest people in the world.
